Rules

1. The principal objective of the Society is to encourage improvement in the breeding of stock, the Committee have the power of withholding any of the premiums if the Judges should consider the stock exhibited not worthy of them.

2. Exhibitors of Blackface Sheep are restricted to the County of Argyll, Island of Bute and Parishes of Kilmallie and Kilmonivaig. All other classes of sheep and cattle will be open. NB – Limitation of areas eligible for entry in Confined Blackface Sheep Classes is defined in Rule 13.

3. Three Prizes only shall be given in each class, except where otherwise specified. Entries less than four in number shall carry one prize less than the number entered.

4. All animals competing in the Show must be in possession of, on the farm, and be the bona fide property of the Exhibitor for at least 3 months prior to the Show. In the case of Blackface Sheep, all female sheep entered in Confined Section and Junior Sections must be the bona fide property of and bred by the Exhibitor. In Confined Section and in the event of a shared exhibit, all shareholders must reside in the Confined area. All Produce etc. must have been grown or made by the Exhibitor (Except Floral Art Classes).

5. Chief Stewards are not permitted to show in the Class which they are stewarding.

6. ANY EXHIBITOR OR HIS REPRESENTATIVE REFUSING TO ACCEPT THE JUDGE'S PLACING WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

7. Membership of the Society shall be £2.00 per annum.

8. Entry money payable by Members shall be £1.00 for each exhibit in livestock sections and £2.00 for Non-Members for each exhibit unless otherwise stated in the Schedule of Prizes. Residents from all parts of the County of Argyll, Island of Bute and Parishes of Kilmallie and Kilmonivaig, are eligible for membership of the Society.

9. Judging of Sheep and Cattle will commence at 10am, Produce etc at 11am. No restrictions will be placed on the arrival time of show exhibits, but a prompt start of judging will be strictly adhered to. Exhibitors are asked to retain stock and produce in the Show as long as possible, and must not remove exhibits prior to 4.00pm unless with the permission of the Chief Stewards of the various classes.

10. Sheep and Cattle stock to be identified to the exhibitor's farm. All ponies in Show must carry their respective class numbers.

11. No animal can be exhibited for a special prize unless it has been shown in its relevant class. 12. All disputes to be settled by a Committee comprising the President, Secretary and the appropriate Stewards. All objections must be lodged with the Secretary by 4pm on the day of the show and a deposit of £5 made. The deposit will be forfeited if the objection is sustained.

13. North Argyll competitors in Confined Section are eligible to compete in Open Section. Entry to Confined Section of Blackface Sheep Classes is restricted to competitors in the area bounded by Traighuaine Burn in the South, Mull in the West, Ardnamurchan in the North, Muckairn Parish Boundary in the East.

14. If sufficient numbers are entered in the Pure Beef Classes the Society at its discretion may divide the classes between native and continental breeds.

15. There will be a Junior Section in Confined Blackface Section open to competitors under 21 years of age. All first prize winners in their respective classes are eligible to compete in confined classes.

16. No rigg animals will be accepted for competition.

17. THE SOCIETY WILL NOT BE LIABLE IN RESPECT OF ANY CLAIMS FOR LOSS, INJURY OR DAMAGE TO PERSONS, VEHICLES AND LIVESTOCK SUSTAINED FROM AN ACCIDENT OR OTHERWISE AT OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SHOW.

18. The Annual General Meeting of the Society will be held before 31st December of the year of the show.

19. All prize money must be collected on the day of the show from the Treasurer or will be thereafter be forfeited.

20. THE SOCIETY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY FAULTY GOODS PURCHASED FROM STALL HOLDERS ON DAY OF SHOW.
